What they say:Abby Miller thought she had the perfect family; a good looking, loving husband and a beautiful daughter. Her life was complete. The shock discovery that her husband, Jared, had been having an affair rocked her world. So when Jared suggested a short break to the Cannard Islands, to heal their fractured marriage, Abby agreed. An idyllic holiday turns into a nightmare when Abby sees something through the telephoto lens of her camera. Suddenly her life and the life of her daughter are in serious danger and no one seems able to help them.
The Review: This was an interesting one, the story of a couple that were out geocaching (I didn’t know what it was before this, it’s basically like a treasure hunt of sorts, but using technology, where you find the treasure and leave something in it’s place so other people can find something too, sounds excellent!) whilst trying to fix their marriage after an unexpected affair (so unexpected, I was gutted that Jared, a character I liked straight away would do that!)
So they’re away from their daughter and they become embroiled in something they couldn’t have foreseen, some dastardly goings on as criminals try to get their hands on something that is linked to something huge and political(I’m sorry for all the ‘somethings’ but I don’t want to give anything away!). From the start of this I was in, and when Abbey saw the something-that which you see in the blurb, and the race to get away from he criminals began, I knew I couldn’t rest until I’d finished this, a roller coster that also contained a brilliant police office who was foaming at the mouth for something exciting to happen in a place that had little more than the smallest of issues( and one I’d like to see again!). The drama was great, road blocks epic and all over the place and the characters likeable and unlikable and well done in that there were times you felt for people you shouldn’t. All in all a very satisfying read and exactly what I needed. Thanks so much to the author for the book in return for an honest review.
(Please note the computer is acting up and so I can’t post the link to go back to all of Ms. Renham’s previous books, but please feel free to do a quick search in this blog and they’re all there, from rom coms to thrillers.)
