The Review: It’s funny, but you get to a stage where you can no longer figure out how to review a series because every single review is so gushy and yet you want to press it onto people even more. As in: This is a series you have to go back to the start of and just devour!
I adored this book (I possibly say that in every single Laura Briggs review!!) From the beginning I was transported straight away to the hotel and followed Maisie along, taking in every single detail of the preparations for an incredibly lavish auction. I pictured it all, the items that were described so intricately, the people of different classes arriving for it, the readying that had to be done.
The beauty in the surroundings and the specialness infused into the everyday took my breath away and had me savouring evety single word. The characters in this series are perfection and so I gasped out loud when a certain secret project was sidelined.
The main secret side of Maisie’s life also had me agog, even though it was necessary, and I relished, savoured and was agog at all the drama. Basically, start to finish, I was taken over by this beautiful, beautiful book. Thanks so much to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for the book in return for an honest review.
