The Review: you’d find it very difficult to not have seen The Best Boomerville Hotel floating about the place if you frequent Amazon or indeed Twitter. This was a book that is still on my Kindle and that I will now definitely have to visit and the reason for me jumping when I saw this book was going on tour.
I’ll admit I thought this book was about a different Hollywood, the one of the the glitzy US variety (although there is one in Ireland, and they have a sign too!!) And so I said ‘ohhh!!’ Out loud as I realised instead we were in a quaint village that reminded me of anything you’d see in Midsomer or Ms. Marple (I don’t read this genre a lot so I apologised I’m going to be so cliched!) In fact Ms Marple was mentioned in the book, as Hattie went about her sleuthing in a case that nobody seemed to find odd (which at times was almost funny, I loved that it took Hattie bringing things up to have people go ‘well I did find it a bit strange!!’) The every day was very well done as was the humour, which at times was slightly madcap, exactly how I like it. The characters were very real and I enjoyed following her and her duck friend (yay to the decision of the pond!) about.
All in all great sleuthing, faultless settings, interesting characters and a fun read. Thanks so much to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for the book in return for an honest review and for letting me be part of the blog tour.
