What they say: Sometimes the best holidays are the ones you least expect…
After a long and turbulent year, Sarah is dreaming of the five-star getaway her sister has booked them on. White sands, cocktails, massages, the Caribbean is calling to them.
But the sisters turn up to tatty beaches, basic wooden shacks, a compost toilet and outdoor cold water showers. It turns out that at the last minute Amy decided a conservation project would be much more fun than a luxury resort.
So now Sarah’s battling mosquitos, trying to stomach fish soup and praying for a swift escape. Life on a desert island though isn’t all doom and gloom. They’re at one with nature, learning about each other and making new friends. And Sarah is distracted by the dishy, yet incredibly moody, island leader she’s sure is hiding a secret.
The Review: I’m regularly bemoaning the fact that since I started properly blogging, a lot of my fave authors have gone by the wayside, I just never get a chance to get to their books any more! Samantha Tonge was definitely one of those authors, with books that were right up my street, sparkly, bright and vivid, with wistful romance and amazing settings. Luckily enough I had a chance to get back to her books and so, here I am, with a book that is all that and so much more! But I digress.
I loved meeting Sarah, who unfortunately had to deal with a ‘beep’ for a boss (she’s in the hospitality sector). I felt for Sarah especially as she feels so much responsibility for her sister Amy, who has recently won the lottery and is treating them to an extravagant holiday away. Or so Sarah thinks.
The early of this moment gave me many ‘snort out loud’ moments (the best type of moment(;)) as the realisation dawned that actually they were actually heading off to a conservation initiative and I totally felt for her. With the sanctuary type setting comes many characters and I was enthralled with them all as we also followed her sister Amy, the ever enthusiastic Helga and also Jonas.
The setting was amazing, and everything I remembered about Ms. Tonge put me right there. The romance was beautiful and not forced at all, I loved that we weren’t belted over the head with any of the romance on the island (there’s more than you expect and it’s all done brilliantly!) I also sucked in the ‘dear reader’ letter at the end which backs up a beautiful, spell binding novel that provided me with much needed escapism. Thanks so much to Aria for the book in return for an honest review and for allowing me to be part of this beautiful blog tour.

We are doing our best here, but keeping safe means staying away from grandchildren, sons, and daughters-in-law. That’s the really tough part of this whole thing. Stay safe.
